Job Description:

We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

Join the School of Computing, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at La Trobe University, where we’re seeking passionate educators for two full-time, continuing roles: Associate Lecturer (Level A) and Lecturer (Level B) in Engineering, located at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus.

As part of our vibrant Engineering Department, you’ll engage in student-centered learning, with a strong focus on innovative teaching methods that connect industry knowledge and research to the classroom. We’re looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about delivering high-quality learning experiences across a range of face-to-face, online, and blended modes, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

About You:

  • Level A (Associate Lecturer): PhD in Engineering (or equivalent). Demonstrated experience in teaching and curriculum design, particularly in soft engineering skills like communication and teamwork.
  • Level B (Lecturer): PhD in Engineering (or equivalent) with experience in subject coordination, supervising postgraduate students, and the ability to innovate and evaluate curriculum delivery in the soft skill engineering field.

  • A collaborative and inclusive approach, with excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
